No matter which browser you use, there are some basic principles that you can follow to avoid malware, advertising, anoying popups, viruses and such:

  • Avoid Internet Explorer
  • Keep up to date with the latest version of your browser(s)
  • Learn to say no! Choosing "no" to the questions that you browser will ask you is often preferrable
  • Refuse to download any "extension" and "enhancers" unless you know their purpose, know how to remove them permenently - should you choose to do so and only install what is needed

Most browsers make it relatively easy (ie: Mozilla Security) to set sensible defaut options, even with limited technical knowledge.
The most common and important ones are:

  • Customize your privacy options
  • Disable Javascript for non-trusted sites
  • Disable Microsoft's Activex

If that is not enough, you can ask us to provide one or more of the following:

  • Upstream and/or local content filter
  • Content monitoring
  • Strategic reporting
